Los Angeles four-piece wilt will release their debut album, when no one’s watching, on October 2 via AWAL.
Produced by Grammy-winning producer Carlos de la Garza, whose credits include Paramore and The Linda Lindas, the record finds wilt leaning fully into the heavier sound they have been steadily building over the past few years, pulling together grunge, shoegaze, punk and melodic hardcore around Chelsea Rifkin’s vocals and the band’s sharp loud-quiet-loud dynamics.
Much of the album was written collaboratively in the room, a shift from wilt’s earlier process of building instrumentals before Rifkin added lyrics separately. That closeness carries into a record centered on the strange disconnect between things going well externally and still feeling unsettled when everything goes quiet.
The band have already previewed the album with “dent,” “bundy” and “nothing good to cry about.”
