David Byrne has released a digital deluxe edition of Who Is the Sky?, marking the album’s first anniversary with four additional tracks and a new single, “My Madness.”
The expanded edition adds two songs originally left off the album, the return of Byrne’s older track “T Shirt,” and a new Mexican Institute of Sound reworking of “What Is the Reason for It?” featuring Natalia Lafourcade. Byrne describes “My Madness” as one of his personal favorites, imagining madness as something separate from yourself that can eventually be understood rather than fought.
The release lands as Byrne prepares to wrap the Who Is the Sky? world tour at Forest Hills Stadium in New York after more than 150 shows across four continents. A concert film, shot on 70mm by The Brutalist director Brady Corbet during multiple Baltimore performances, is currently in post-production.
Byrne will also publish a new book, Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up, on October 6.
