OUR PICKS FOR THIS WEEK
Wednesday, October 28th
Frog, Peyton Aston & Assisted Living
Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios
New York indie outfit Frog makes wonderfully strange, scrappy guitar music that can turn from funny to heartbreaking in a heartbeat. Joined by Peyton Aston and Assisted Living, this is a great excuse to head to Denton for something a little off the beaten path.
Friday, October 30th
Kungs & Demarkus Lewis
It’ll Do Club
French producer Kungs brings his disco-leaning house sound to It’ll Do alongside Dallas house veteran Demarkus Lewis, who’s been representing North Texas dance music for decades. Two generations of house music in one of the city’s best dance rooms.
Saturday, October 31st & Sunday, November 1st
DJ Shadow & DJ D-Sharp
Tulips FTW
DJ Shadow celebrates 30 years of Endtroducing….., the landmark album that helped redefine sample-based music, with two nights at Tulips. DJ D-Sharp joins him for what should be a pretty spectacular Halloween weekend.
Sunday, November 1st
Rhett Miller, Joshua Ray Walker, Jamie Lin Wilson & The O’s
Granada Theater
A remarkable collection of Texas songwriting talent comes together for an acoustic song swap benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Great songs, great storytellers, and a great cause. Hard to argue with that.
Monday, November 2nd
Dinosaur Jr. & Stef Chura
Granada Theater
Few bands have made loud guitars sound as beautiful as Dinosaur Jr. J Mascis and company bring their signature mix of fuzzed-out guitar heroics and melancholy melodies to Granada, with Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura opening. Bring earplugs.
