Dallas artist Dezi 5 has released Texas Soul – First Edition, a four-song EP built around the idea that Texas music has never belonged to a single genre. Soul, blues, country, rock and Americana sit alongside Tejano and Cumbia across the record, with Dezi pulling from the sounds, cultures and experiences that shaped his Dallas upbringing.
“Texas Soul is me finally putting all the pieces of who I am musically in the same room.”
The EP opens with lead single “T-E-X-A-S” and also includes “Mí Familiar Texicana,” “Short End of the Stick” and “Paint the Town.”
Texas Soul – First Edition is the first chapter of a larger project, with Dezi 5’s debut full-length Texas Soul album due in Spring 2027.
Next up are performances at the State Fair of Texas and Music Prize before Dezi 5 & The Tailgaters headline the inaugural Texas Soul Festival at Encore Park in Downtown Dallas on December 11.
Texas Soul – First Edition is out now.
