Julia Holter has shared “Materia 2,” the final preview of her new album Materia, out August 21 via Domino. The seven-track record is a companion to 2024’s Something In The Room She Moves, picking up ideas first heard in that album’s “Materia.” The new track brings drum machine together with Devra Hoff’s fretless bass, clarinet from Chris Speed and vocals by experimental composer Jessika Kenney.
“Materia 2” follows earlier singles “The Laugh Is In The Eyes,” “Fantasy” and “My Lost One.” Holter will mark the album’s arrival with a full playback and Q&A at In Sheep’s Clothing HQ in Los Angeles on August 20, presented by KCRW, with proceeds going to the Immigrant Defenders Law Center.
