Nicole Atkins has shared the official video for “Trippin’ on Teardrops,” the latest single from her forthcoming album Drama, out September 18 via Sun Records/Wicked Game Records.
Written during a period of severe insomnia and isolation, the song pairs Atkins’ classic pop instincts with lyrics about loneliness, burnout and feeling disconnected from your own life. The video was filmed inside a historic New Jersey mansion, following a glamorous woman whose seemingly perfect surroundings gradually reveal something stranger and more solitary.
Drama is Atkins’ seventh studio album and her first all-new full-length in more than six years. Produced with Pat Sansone, the record also features “Singing In The Mirror,” “When the Night Falls” and a duet with Chris Isaak, who signed Atkins as the first artist to his Wicked Game Records imprint.
