mary in the junkyard have shared “Jane,” a new single following the release of their debut album, Role Model Hermit, earlier this year via AMF Records
The London trio — Clari Freeman-Taylor, Saya Barbaglia and David Addison – strip things back on “Jane,” a ballad centered on Freeman-Taylor’s vocal and one of the band’s clearest narratives to date. Barbaglia’s violin runs quietly through the track, giving the song a more fragile, direct shape than some of the more jagged material on Role Model Hermit.
“It is about my period (Jane) who is annoying and too honest,” Freeman-Taylor says. “You might find it satisfying if you have those circumstances.”
The single arrives as mary in the junkyard begin their biggest UK and European headline tour to date, with every date currently sold out. The band will follow that run with a North American tour beginning November 2 in Los Angeles, with stops including Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
