Austin trio Being Dead have announced their signing to Polyvinyl Record Co., celebrating with the release of two new singles, “Man or Myth” and “Aquarium,” each accompanied by its own music video. The tracks mark the band’s first new material since their acclaimed 2024 sophomore album, EELS, which earned widespread critical praise and appeared on numerous year-end lists.
Featuring co-lead vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Falcon Bitch and Cody Dosier alongside bassist Nicole Roman-Johnston, Being Dead continue their wonderfully unpredictable approach to songwriting. “Man or Myth” pays tribute to freestyle-canoeing legend Marc Ornstein, who appears in the accompanying video, while “Aquarium” tackles the unlikely romance between an aquarium employee and a dolphin.
Reuniting with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Alvvays, Angel Olsen), the new releases retain the band’s distinctive collision of surf-rock guitars, eccentric harmonies, and chaotic punk energy. The trio will celebrate their next chapter with a hometown Austin performance at Central Machine Works on November 14.
